I've come to the conclusion that while my normal tuition is the best way to progress at your own pace in areas of photography that interest you, there are times when having a taught lesson in a specific area of interest you don't have much experience in can be beneficial. As a result, I have now launched my first three master classes with the focus being on teaching the skills required and then getting you to have a go yourself before I comment on your work.

The first three master classes are: First steps with your camera - Composition - Low light photography. More will be added over time and as I see the need. Don't forget to let me know if you would like to see a master class on any specific area.

I've run a photography blog in the past, but I feel I left the remit too narrow and ended up not doing enough work of the nature I was wanting to blog about, so it ended up becoming neglected and crying in a corner. I've decided to give it another go, this time with a much broader remit to ensure I always have something to blog about.

I plan to cover all areas of my work rather than just the landscape stuff I did before. In addition to this, I'll be blogging about any cameras I buy for my vintage collection as well as equipment purchased for use in my work. I'm also planning a number of articles looking at trends in the photography world as well as looking at specific aspects of photography, such as composition, exposure, what to do before taking the photograph etc.

Hopefully this will ensure the blog is as interesting for me to write as for you to read.

I am sorry to say that it will be a few weeks before The Gallery Shop is live once again. This is due to a changing of the shopping cart system I'm using and I need to do a fair amount of testing before I'm prepared to make it available.

In the meantime, if anyone finds themselves to be absolutely desperate to purchase a framed print, please do not hestitate to contact me with your requirements and I'll get in touch to let you know the cost and timescales that can be expected.

Thank you for your patience.

The 1st of March 2012 will be the 10th anniversary of me being self-employed and running Calum Morrell Photography. It has changed considerably since those early days when I focussed almost exclusively on landscape and natural history photography. In order to celebrate this anniversary (and because quite frankly it was needed) I have chosen to launch this new website.

I'm building it "live" which is quite naughty of me, but it's a quiet time of the year for photographers and I'm building it over a long weekend, so the information is being added to it quite rapidly. If you click a link and it returns to the home page, or a page seems especially barren and without photographs, then it means I'm still working on that section and it should be available within a couple of days at most.

Here's to the next decade!
